Locals can email traffic problems to Traffic Police

People can now photograph or take videos of traffic problems and violations and email them to the traffic police to take action.

The photographs can be mailed to trafficpolicehyderabad@yahoo.co.in, trafficpolicehyderabad@hotmail.com and trafficpolicehyderabad@rediffmail.com Complaints and grievances can also be lodged on the traffic helpline number 04027852482.

"We will take corrective action based on the photographs sent by the citizens and book cases where necessary. But citizens should avoid mutual recrimination and not use the option to trap some individuals. Larger traffic issues affecting the motorists could be highlighted," additional commissioner of police (traffic) V.S.K. Kaumudi told this correspondent.

Citizens can focus on mass illegal parking, bad engineering, accident prone spots, encroachments, road stretches where traffic is slow, waterlogging among others. The police will reply with an action taken report by e-mail, and through mobiles where the cell phone number is provided.

The e-mail facility can also be used to enquire about pending no-objection certificates, permission for road cutting, plying buses and other issues. They have started maintaining computer records of challans issued and a software has been devised to keep track of violators.
