UAE to deport 80,000 illegal immigrants to AP

(DC)The United Arab Emirates will deport about 80,000 illegal immigrants to the at the conclusion of a drive to weed out workers with fraudulent papers. Most of these are expected to be from Andhra Pradesh.

A senior police officer said that UAE had given a three month grace period for the deportation of two lakh illegal immigrants from India.

The officials are preparing themselves for the rush as the deadline given by the UAE government will end in September.

So far, 3,916 persons deported from Gulf countries have landed in Hyderabad airport from January to June.

In the past three months 1,732 illegal immigrants have come home, of which 569 were from Karimnagar and 356 from Adilabad. Others belonged to West Godavari, East Godavari and Hyderabad. Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Butchi Rami Reddy said he was expecting a notification on the arrival of the deportees soon. "We are making all arrangements," he said.
